Pretty easy job, i did it to my nl abot 5 years ago

pricing will depend on if its a 6 or an 8 - an 8 cyl 5spd conversion is alot harder to find.

Theres plenty of threads on manual conversions and even a doco on it by voxace

i put a t5 in my el fairmont before xmas. easy took the best part of a weekend. i bought an eb for the parts. the pedal box holes need to be elongated a bit but other than that it was straight forward... youll need to pull the dash forward the auto tail shaft just bolted back up. goes great and pulls hard if you jump off the clutch at about 2300rpm..

I started at 10:30 today and finished at just after 4 including packing up and cleaning the drive. All single handed but I did have the manual pedal box in.

Well I did have practice as I had done the Manual to Auto re-conversion the week before only to have to pull it out again, try again Saturday and give up and go back to Manual on Sunday

To start with you need one to match the motor as I6 and V8 boxes arnt interchangeable. Next for an EF or EL you can go from EA to EL. EA and EB1 have a smaller flywheel and 3 bolt clutch and shorter first gear. Some say these are a weaker boxes. AU/BA boxes are longer and the shifter is in the wrong position making installation difficult.
