For those that fork out the extra dollars for premium tyres what do you run? I'm currently debating options for my next set of tyres. The short list at the moment is:

Bridgestone Adrenalin Potenza RE001.
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx (these are what is OEM on the FG XRs and is superior to the 3000A found on BA/F XRs). Although also considering the Maxx TT, but waiting on the local Dunlop dealer to get back to me with the price difference (as they havn't had TT's in stock before).
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (this review [ http://forum.autoworld.com.my/index.php ... try1298551 ] prefers the Bridgestones over them. But then in this [ http://www.motortrader.com.my/asp/forum ... C_ID=30477 ] someone reckons the Goodyears are the best for wet and Bridgestones the best for dry). I know that Wheels have highly rated the F1's in there tyre tests over the last few years (pretty sure they won both 2007 and 2008).
There's also some Michelin options which I havn't looked at yet read somewhere on XR6Turbo that they are a quieter and grippier option than the Dunlop 3000A, but not sure how they compare to the Maxx and TT's.

Anyone here running or run any of these (or any others that I should consider) and got any comments to help me in my decision?
At the moment I'm leening on the Bridgestones or the Goodyear F1s.

what size man?
Dunlop Sport Maxx are crap IMO, didn't last long and weren't fantastic traction in either wet or dry.
they actually started to go REALLY off in the wet when they got down a bit.
I went to Toyo Proxes 4 (245/35r19) and i've been pretty happy with them, alot better then the sports maxx, both in longevity and grip. the rears are almost down to the marker at the moment and i can barely notice a difference, wet or dry.
im thinking of trying the Marangoni Mythos next, they got a good writeup in Motor a while ago and alot of guys on Fordxr6turbo seem to love them.
mate runs them in same size on a VZ LS1 and hes been happy with them too.

Toyos and Marangonis are not really in the 'premium' price range, 300-350 odd a tyre for 245/35r19.
thats probably my limit for tyres LOL, can't justify any more then that for a street car that might get pushed to 8/10ths once a month if that... they exceed OEM so im happy.

About $270 a tyre.....when I first started using them, they were $140 a go.

I'll back you up there. They're certainly not worth the ~$600 each for the 245/35R19.

I run the Maxxis MA-Z1's at about $250 each for the same size, they last longer, work better in the wet, and hold up to circuit abuse.

Not people with lighter cars, aren't so happy with the Maxxis MA-Z1's. But they seem to work well on B series Falcons.

Plus side, is they still grip well even below legal (I use them for track work, once not legal).

Cheap enough to 'smoke' too.

Havn't they stopped manufacturing them now? Regardless I'm nearly certain they only ever made them for smaller diameter wheels (13" to 15") so are not an option for me.

235/45R17.
I'm probably considering anything up to $300.00 a tyre which isn't bad for 17" since this size starts as cheap as $140.00 these days. Anything above $300.00 and I'll need a dam good reason why.

That's a motorsport tyre ( http://www.bridgestone.com.au/tyres/mot ... RE55s.aspx ), really not applicable for my road only driven vehicle. It would be taking things a bit too far...

After the comments on the Dunlops I reckon I'm going to end up with the Bridgestones or Goodyears.

I to use these tyres in 245/35/r19 and i found them not to bad, they are a good middle of the range, little noisy but when running low profile tyres thats a sacrifice you gota make, my cambers are f**k so they have worn pretty bad, i will prolly only get 20km out of them, but for the price they are alright, i run these on my BF Falcon Sedan

I have driven parents cars which have had Potenza's and Eagle F1's, both were a really good tyre and I didn't drive the cars enough to tell the difference.

At the moment my car has Bob Jane Xenon's and they are okay, yet to drive them in the wet so time will tell.

I don't think so - http://www.goodyear.com.au/TyreDetailAc ... m=nPerPage .

I've ended up calling Bridgestone and getting the Adrenalines. Dropping the rims in this afternoon to have them fitted. The guy has knocked the price done for me too, so they're the ones I've been leaning towards most of the way and they're now also the cheapest option, so win win in my eyes. I guess I'll soon find out.
