Dark blue ghia in Sydney with big brakes, I'd say terrorist ghia :)
And yeah unless they're copies, they're AU rims and he's probably got the adaptors pulled off to show off the brakes.

Dude, have a look in the Trading Post, there's a place that advertises the copies, that will fit an E-Series offset. My mate had AU Series2/3 XR8 rims on his EL, with no adaptor, and you couldn't tell the difference between them and the originals. They're really good on prices too!

AU series 2 rims are a bit different to series 1. Series 1 are an awesome looking rim I reckon

If you get the chance, read the roadworthy handbook that mechanics use to do roadworthies. It's really quite clear. I can give you the gist:

Wheel or hub adaptors are not roadworthy unless factory fitted. That's it. Not really much room for manouvering. I don't think they are "illegal" but your car is unroadworthy, which means your insurance is void for a start...

yes you are right the guidlnes for alternative wheels and tyres state this
most rim shops say that when you buy the adaptors that you get a letter from the rta stating that they are a legal fitment
havn't seen a letter though

I was on the phone with the NSW RTA modification hotline. Any form of spacers or hub adapters are illegal in NSW.

Not that I care, I have a set of spacers on my EF, as I am running R33 Skyline wheels. If they catch me or I have an accident, I will swap the wheels with the original steel wheels

The number for the RTA hotline is 1300 137 302.
