as im driving from 60kms to full brake holding the steering wheel it fells like im holding a jackhammer
im not a small bloke either and it shakes the s**t out of my arms... i have changed the rotors and pads and the problem is still occuring any suggestions as what it could be im thinking Abs issues....?

This will be the 3rd thread i've said this to in as many days! Might be all i know!
 Anyway, take your car to ford for diagnostics... could be the ABS sensor. I had mine replaced and things were schmick after that (oh and the $1000 brake upgrade from hightek brakes helped too) |

im fkn sick of the brakes does my head in i put DBA slotted on with Benedix Ultimates and they where fone for 8000k's now there cactus again Im going machining then take it from there..... thanks again

In early Commo's life they had this problem. Was due to bearing adjustment allowing too much play

there is a TSB out on this, need to change the anti rattle clips on the brake pads, changes the angle of the pad or something.
cant remember exactly, has been a while. |

Along a similar line -my brakes dont shudder,but it seems like the front calipers have a continuous tinktinktink as I drive on bumpy streets.Do you reckon I need to chase up some of these pad clips, or is there another possible reason(rattly/loose calipers or similar)?

Fact is the b series is a real barge and the brakes do work hard to pull them up. As someone said on here a long time ago, ford factory disks aren't made of steel, more like cheese.

i can remember reading an article about the quality of the rotors sourced by ford when the BA's came out. aparently the contract with the supplier had no stipulation about the quality of metal used in the construction, so they used whatever garbage they could find. you may get lucky and have a decent set but chances are they will be rubbish.
also get the wheel bearings adjusted, as per nigels recomendation.

i upgraded my front rotors to DBA 4000 rotors and ebc greenstuffs, been over 18 months now and still no shudder.. i'd reccommend the 4000s over the regular DBA slotteds, they appear to be less prone to warping...

So yeah, all these elements combined ensured a near 100 % success rate for my cars leaving the W/S. No adjustment in BA wheel bearings, unless you mean retorquing the hub nut? |

also could be, no offence crap bendix brake pads, i see this at work every week people with ba's get new disc and bendix pads from brake outlets then a few weeks later they come to my work and ask why its suddering like a b**ch and i replace the pads with trw pads, dusty but most ba owners was there car weekly and machine the disc and they love the better braking and no shudder

heard it was real s**t rotor material and very STANDARD pad material. usually aftermarket (rda dba etc) rotors fix them right up

You said you replaced the rotors?
With new ones or secondhand? were they machined? New bearings? Correct bearing torque? they loosen up after being replaced in a few thousand Klm. Cleaned and lubricated caliper slides? I would be astounded that new discs and pads would have the shakes. My EF has this problem but I got it working real nice with all of the above sorted out. I am due to do it again but it's not that bad except at 100kph.
