No reason it can't depending on the thickness of your wallet. Problems you will need to overcome is availability (rare and bringing around $4k) Bellhousing is not available for E series motor and the BF pattern is not an exact match for the E series pattern but at a pinch you can use it. Control is where it gets hard. This box has the control spread across 2 controllers, one in the box and another incorporated in the car. Now none of this will be compatible with E series and I doubt if it has been attempted before so you would be a pioneer and need plenty of research.

plus the controllers have to be from the same car as they talk together - its a major major job - id be expecting it to cost about 10g

i think the control can be done easy and (relitivly) cheap. there was a mod to put the b shifter to a e series.

make your ecu a manual and convert a b series shifter to the car. then hook up the box to it. it might mean you'd have to use the sports shift till you sort it out better, and have limited/no reverse. but doable

and all for a price

interesting.. i should of considered the CPU side of things...
im not loaded enough to be a pioneer so it wont be for me :D hopefully it starts to happen though.. there's going to be lots of these boxes popping up soon they should become cheaper and cheaper and id guess people are eventually going to want to try a 6SP auto over the antique 4speed.

Remeber also that the 6 speed auto is used in a lot of other cars. Perhaps a looky around to see if you can use an alternate controller (say pre 2000) that isnt can-based? That would be interesting.

Similar to the way if you want a 4 speed in a manual car you can use a V8 TCM or an EA 6 one.
