So what apps have people found for their iPhones that they're happy? There's a lot avaliable for free on both the Apple iTunes store and Cydia (C).
So far my favourits have to be:

Facebook - no explanation necesary.
Swirly MMS (C) - although wiht the upcoming OS 3 it probably won't be needed much longer.
Flashlight or there is a version on Cydia which has a strobe feature and is brighter as apparently Apple limited the screen brightness.
Cycodia - a video recording program, faster and higher quality that iPhone Video Recorder.
Dictionary - self explanitory.
IceTV - TV guide.
eBay - self explanitory.
IntelliScreen - for those that used to have a Nokia Symbian handset or a Windows Mobile would be familiar with seeing the calender etc. information displayed on the background of the stand by screen, this app replicates that for the iPhone. Sadly, not as well done as you can't select something and be taken into the relevant program - e.g. select a meeting and be taken into the calender program displaying that meeting.

There's so many apps for this thing though, a great deal of them are just rubbish as why would you bother with them, but there's some really good ones in there when you find them!

Know of a decent app that displays your calender information on the standby screen? I found one, but it was only 10 day free trial.

Also, with a Jailbroken iPhone 3G, how do you move files into the directory of an app?

It will install on your iPhone when you Jailbreak it. Do some Googling on Jailbreaking.

Add a data pack ontop of the 250mb and you and the salesperson will be laughing :D

On the 59 cap i think you can get the iphone 16gb for +$4 handset repayments..

If I have a folder on my PC called example.app, and it's got a bunch of files in it, and I transfer it to /Applications folder of my iPhone then it should add the app to my iPhone shouldn't it?

Lets you download and install cracked apps to use on your phone. also does a few OS hacks if you want.
