I ran this from home, I am pretty sure its a good result though. From my experience, my internet is pretty fast.

Optus upload speeds are pretty bad though. the DL speed looks ok though.

dc, that speed is like its completely maxing out a 100mbps cable modem. you sure they're not giving you a heap more speed on your plan by mistake?

Thats what I am thinking as well, story goes, I have been given an optus Femto service as they can no longer provide mobile coverage in my area, I am thinking they have had to upgrade the speed of my connection to allow for this. Its a brand new just released netgear cable modem that is made to support the stupid interwebs speed that can be made available for an extra charge, one that i am not paying, but i think needs to be in place for this femto service to work. basically femto is a device that creates a mobile 3G network in the home.

If they intend on giving this to me, hell i'll take it.

I am downloading stuff at phenomenal rates... thanks Optus!

Terrabyte, here I come!! nah there is not really enough that is of direct interest to me to actually download that much,

i know plenty of people smash 1tb a month, but i gotta work, look after kids and actually have a life outside the home, there is not enough time to do 1tb and have a life, how much of what I download at that rate will i ever actually get time to see, listen to, watch or play?

Life off the PC exists and I take part in it.

If I recall correctly, the only difference that is made to the plans for when a femto device is optioned is that you have a higher speed when throttled, in order for the femto device to continue working. In the early stages, it was picked up that the standard throttled speeds did not allow the femto device to work. I don't think that they allowed the additional speed for the regular plan.

They may have added the DOCSIS 3.0 speed add on, seeing that you are already on a cable plan.

This is my speed test (from work)
