My speedo is out by 7%, i.e. it reads 120kph when it really means 111kph
Currently I think I have the Lt green gear as the car is a standard 6cy falcon (non lsd). What color gear do I need to get the reading closer?
Do I need more teeth or less teeth on the Gear?

Cheers
TW.

What gearbox and diff ratio do you have.

3.08 I think, looking at the speedo calc it suggests I have a brown gear.
The ratio I can calculate, its the direction I need to go that I can't get my head around, do I need more teeth or less?

You need the sensor to spin slower so it need more teeth. A 7% change might be a bit hard to get right but you can try it or you can get a digital adjuster and do it that way.

Thanks Raiki, that confirms my thoughs, I have bought a grey one (22 teeth) to replace the brown one (20 teeth) so I should see a 9% reduction in displayed speed I hope. Also a 9% increase in shift points as well, maybe now I can run in economy and not have a slug!

Cheers

Next Question, how hard is it to remove and replace the gear on the sender?

Thanks all, the light green one(21 teeth) gets me within 2% of an accurate speedo. Auto shift points are now at 5500 rpm for economy and 5800 non-economy which I can live with. Now back to my Leaky diff and the Fairmont front conversion.

Cheers
TW

LOL, you should've left it as it was. Having a speedo that reads higher than what the car is actually travelling at can be quite useful ;)

Not when the other half has commentry you every time your speedo shows more that the signs on the side of the road. Plus you get more K's on the car than should be.
Cheers TW.
