Hi guys,
just wondering what would need to be done to fit a 6spd auto into an el 5L with A 4spd auto.
Obvious mod would be something with the computer to tell it to change to 5th & 6th gear.
Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.

im thinking you would have to change the bell housing, input shaft, tail shaft.
thats what i would imagine would need to be changed/ modded ! :D

How much you got spare?
First of they have an intergrated bellhousing, which wont suit a windsor. So you'll have to cut off the existing one, and get one made up or adapted. (good luck)
Then on the ECU side of things you will have to get a complete custom one made up to run the box, as the factory one certainly wont. (further good luck required)

The rest is easy

why don't you just keep your 4 speed but convert it to Tiptronic? would cost alot less, probably cheaper than a manual conversion.

The Bellhousing is actually very similar(as Ive shown before) but that is the least of the problems. The trans control unit is integrated with the valve body which at this time still hasn't been hacked and even then may not function without a data line from a BF-FG PCM.

This may be the way to go....Expensive yes but it gives you total control and it will bolt up to your 5.0. http://www.performanceautomatic.com/pro ... ssion.html
My advice; get a small block T56 instead.
