My AU XR8 runs a little too cool, just gets onto the gauge.

After a big drive the other day I checked the top hose to see if it was hot and was actually flowing coolant.
With the engine running, the hose was hot but had little/no pressure. I was able to squeze it closed easily with 1 hand. Is this normal?

Well once mine has gotten up to temperature and the system is pressurised the top hose becomes pretty solid. No way could i close it solid.

Hows your rad cap?

sorry to go slightly off topic, but is there anything which isn't water which would cool an engine better? That would go straight into a regular engine but have better heat disspersing properties?

I'd say radiator cap as well.
If you think it's running cool it would pay to check the thermostat is working and the right one too, the car won't be running its best with a cool thermostat.
