Alright, Im no qualified mechanic so if this is common knowledge or a stupid question Im sorry. The local performance bloke said the heads on 302w let them down, and I have read alot of posts about going gt40p's...... But what is it about the heads that lets them down? I thought windsor heads were strong heads? I know clevo's rev harder so is it the compression of windsors that let them down? If so why not shave the stocks? Isnt the classic boss motor windsor block, clevo heads? If so by doing the heads wouldnt it be a weapon?

The factory efi windsor heads run really small & crappy ports on them. That's what lets them down!

Cheers

Do they make a carby one? If so, get creative. It could be drilled for injectors, and make up a nice polished adapter that goes from the carby base to a nice base to mount a honkin big throttle body, sort of like the carby to gas research adapters, but something that looks much sexier....

79raven -> Np man.

Cheers

the last two intakes on this page are for 8.2' deck blocks.....
http://www.chiheads.com.au/3v_manifolds.php
Or you can use a windsor EFI intake and modify to suit cleveland heads.

Edelbrock also makes an intake (RPM air gap from memory) to suit cleveland heads on an 8.2" deck windsor block.

It's not worth using factory iron cleveland heads.
It's certainly worth using using the CHI intake and 185 head combo especially as the CHI heads are already drilled for windsor accessories so your stock serpentine setup will bolt on. Having said that there's no real advantage to using cleveland style heads when you consider the vast array of aftermarket heads available now. It's simply easier to get the performance you want from a windsor head combo and it means all parts are readily available.
An important part of that is proper EFI intakes not single plane carb jobs which are really suited to a high rpm combo or require bigger cubes to mask their inefficiencies down low.
If I were going the CHI head option I'd most likely modify a TFS-R,Edelbrock Victor EFI,Holley2 or Performer RPM intake to fit depending on capacity and intended rev range.
