It seems Pro Comp has started casting cylinder blocks. This listing popped up on the local auction site. I wonder who's casting design they ripped off this time. Just more chinese rubbish to avoid, but I'm sure there will be some buyers willing to take the risk for what seems like a "bargain". Except when it fails catastrophically and takes out the rest of the engine.... Buyer beware.

The main caps look like Dart, so they probably just copied a Dart block.
The price isnt too good, a genuine dart block is only $3000 or so.....

Just another reason to stay the hell away from Pro Comp / Sydney Speed Supplies / AT Racing, or whatever else they start calling themselves.

Remember the price is in NZ$. FYI the price is about $1k under normal retail for a Motorsport or World Products block, but only a few hundred below "trade" price which most people get by asking nicely.

That article sounds like an interesting read.

Is that for a tall deck 351W block or short deck 302W block.

Copying the moulds is one thing. But using the right material and fine tuning the process is another thing altogether and that's where most of the defects are. You can have material as thick as you want but if its porous or a substandard grade of metal then it will ultimately fail.

Both were the same price. The mag was #71. Very recent.

The point is lower bearing surface velocity, which reduces oil temps. It also has something to do with maintaining an oil film. Once a certain velocity is reached the oil doesn't work properly any more and the engine is more prone to journal damage. Reducing the diameter of the journal decreases the surface velocity by about 10%. It's quite common

The block is still rubbish I wouldn't touch.
