The one on the right? Got it off once after hours and hours of stuffing around.. There has to be a simpler way?

Disregard the black stuff.

Can someone help on a quick and easy way to take this bastard off??

Thanks.

easy way is to get a shifter, open it to be able to push the plastic on the end of the fitting, so the plastic retracts inside the metal fitting, kind of like sleve of wizzard, you don't need silly pressure either. once the plactic coupling is retracted with the same constant pressure perhaps a small amount of wiggling, the entire fitting will come off, keep in mind that steel feed line is a decent length.

Pull the hose back towards the fitting then when it is as far back as possible , push the beige clip in with a screw driver etc. Keep pressure on the clip as you slide it off.
They are a prick of a thing but once you get the hang of it they aint too bad.

OR cut the top off a plastic coke bottle..Cut a slot in it so it fits over fuel line..
Then push up into plastic clips.. Then pull apart....

You should be able to do it with your fingers in 2 seconds.

Just squeeze it slightly and push it towards the fuel line, it will slide back over two ridges in the metal fitting, then slide off like normal.

Fuel pump or filter ?? Ah yes I welded two bits of off-cut onto a bar to undo plastic cover..
Loosen clamp that goes around plastic cap FIRST ....
A 1/4 drive makes loosening clamp soo much easier...

I used a big flat head and metal hammer to turn the pump locking ring. Loosen the clamp first, small 8mm socket on a 1/4 drive until you can turn it with your fingers.

Make sure you remove all the caps from the new pump if thats what you are doing. I forgot one and had to pull the pump again. Had one on the filter/strainer, and one on each end of the pump.

I got it open, doing it up *tight* enough is the issue.

Yeah, tried the flat head and it seemed to be pretty stable, but took it for a spin and it still leaked fuel. Suspect it's because there's not enough pressure on to rubber o ring and therefore not making a seal.

Sorry SLO, 8mm socket? What do you mean by the 'clamp'?

Try tightening it a little more. The mounting flange shouldnt be able 2 move. Wasn't there a clamp around the locking ring?

Applying a little oil on thread helps tighten up easier..
You may be surprised how much tighter you can go...

Clamp around locking ring?? No?? Should there have been? The only clamp was on the fuel line as seen in the picture (left)

Interesting about the oil.. I'm not keen on undoing the lines and ring though.. maybe i'll spray some silicone spray on the threads..
