Just had my au1 xr8 diognosed with having a fried processor in the ecu.
Caused by a bad earth.
Does anyone know how hard it is to put another one in.
I have purchased a second hand unit is it just a case of programing the keys to the unit or is there more involved ?
Any help greatly appreciated Lee

Out of curiousity, what were your symptoms? Or it just wouldn't run at all?

Started with just not starting straight away and a kind of surging occasionaly.
Then progressed into intermitent faults like just randomly changing gear to cooling fan comming on speedo fluctuating and then just complete shut down.
Then when you tried to re start it would tick over at 1500 rpm with cooling fan going nuts then just
shut off again. You could leave it for say half an hour and it would start and run as if nothing had happened. We had smelt a burning smell in the car so I guess that was the processor frying.
Finally now doesnt realy want to go just doing the same mad stuff.
I now have a mobile guy who says he can fix it when I have another ecu.
I have managed to source a second hand one out of a police chaser
So hopefully will be able to get it fixed soon.
This has been gradualy getting worse for about 4 months.
