Dave, has your Ute had any mods done or is it standard.
I have a Ute similar to yours and have a few mods done.

Search is hopeless ,

Use google advance search and put www.fordmods.com as the domain,

As with ur xr8, a few mods would be, full exhaust ( extractors, catback, hi flow cat) flash tune (chip) k&n panel or pod filter, Cam. The list goes on, but full exhaust is a great start

Dave, yeah mine is the 200 kw xr8 ute. First thing i did was replace the original
exhaust system so i could here it and let it breath.
I went for Pacemakers (TRI-Y design) High flow cats and dual system right through to the back,
with 4 round resonators (2 each side). Not sure if the system is 2 1/4 or 2 1/2.
I basically went to a exhaust shop and asked for a sports system and this what they put on, puts
out a real good v8 note. Then a K+N air filter.
Then replaced the the rubber elbow that leads to the throttle body with an after market stainless
one. Then a SS cold air induction intake.
Then after a while i had a Crow 20 kw cam installed + a Unichip Computer.
Mind you this was done back in 2002 just after i had bought it new with 2500 km on it.
These days instead of a Unichip a Ford X3 Power Flash is the go + a dyno tune.
All of these mods made 180 rwks, and i was happy with the mods done.
Anyway this what i had done, if i was to do the same again today i would change the resonators
in the exhaust to a couple of Magnaflow Mufflers, as it is a bit on the loud side. And change the Unichip Computer to a X3 Power Flash. Cheers.

hey mate iv recently bought a 220kw xr8, mine has done 186,000 and the first thing i done was to get the lukey panel filter and mod the airbox. was a good start for a decent little boost of power, cost me $50. iv just recently put a single 3inch system on it, had to get the centre section made custom and the git put a strait throgh muffler in the middle when the rear section just has a hotdog, so the end result was a beautiful note and great power increase but its a tad on the loud side... the other thing i did to get a bit more power wasent a mod but to replace the plugs and leads, mine were f**k when i bought it but when i changed them holy s**t it made a difference... check the engine bay at night, see if theres arching from the leads may help a bit to get back any lost power if they are stuffed... next on my list, pacey's and some high flow cats... maybe a flash tune... keep us posted on how yours goes mate, good to see the AU xr8's gettin some mods...
