throw the globes away and replace, my car did this a while ago 2 of the 3 globes looked like they hadent blown but when i replaced them they worked, or could be the brake light switch under your pedal, they are 5 bucks at supercheap but youd probably find a better quality one from repco or somthing like that

If you've got cruise control you'll also find that it won't disengage when you press the brake light switch. A handy way to find out your switch is faulty while your driving.

Brake light switch failures are common on E series and AU.

Apparently there's a "taxi spec" one available from Ford Spares, either that or just buy replacements, they're pretty cheap, and if it lasts you a few years, the cost approaches nothing.

Only EF - AU had that stupid brake switch...

EA-ED had a "normal" switch... I don't know how they came up with that design of a switch for the EF - AU but they seem to be nothing but problems...

Have you used a multimeter to check both the fuse (instead of replacing it test it before hand to see if it is the problem) and also the globes to ensure there is a circuit there?

But if it is all three you'd assume the switch is the culprit...

Cheers,
Tim

You're right, I wasn't sure, so said all e-series to be safe.

It's extremely unlikely for all three bulbs to go, so look for the common parts: fuse, switch.

But yeah a multi meter across the bulbs will tell you they're still good or not (should have a small but noticeable resistance ~7Ohms for a 21W/12V bulb, if it's open circuit they're dead).

Also works good for testing fuses... The may look OK and in fact be open circuit...

People come on her and ask for help and say I replaced this and replaced that... But fail to actually test anything to see if its OK...

Even the switch could be removed and tested to see if its faulty...

Multimeter removes all doubt...

Cheers,
Tim
