I'd really love to keep it as it has been very reliable, apart from a few minor repairs(some under new car warranty)and the usual replacement of batteries etc;while the body is still in very good condition for its age,I totally stripped it the day I brought it home an fished oiled it everywhere, and do this every 12 months. The main problem is you can't buy very many
original spares for the XG's now.All the spares people at the local dealers(including Harrigan Ford where I bought it new)just say "sorry that's now ONR".I even know the bloke in charge of the spares at Harrigans, and though he tries very hard for me,sometimes even he can't help me out.
If I did keep it and went gas,it'd have be some sort of direct injection system, and I'd want a gas capacity about the same as the petrol capacity. But we'll see what time brings.
This the 2nd longest I've ever owned a vehicle, the other being my 1928 Chev 1 ton truck(yes I know thats a dirty word here),29 years this Christmas just gone. What doesn't fit in the Ford goes on the truck.
I might investigate the gas option after the New Year and see what's available.

Cheers,
Kev.
