Just a quick question

im changing my turbo over in the next week with another standard turbo
my friend told me to change the actuator with one of these;

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/TURBOSMART-1 ... 0860911073

would i need to get the car retuned if i fitted it?
shouldnt the cars ECU be able to adapt?

cheers

Yes the car would need to be tuned, thats a 12 psi actuator which means it will probably run 12 psi which is alot higher than standard boost pressure. The ecu would see the extra boost and the boost cut function would kick in which usually cuts fuel when it reaches a certain value. I think stock boost for a ba/bf is around 6psi...

ok cheers mate

ill give it a miss, only changing the turbo due to the turbo becoming very noisey,
the turbo has always made noise but slightly after cracking the 200,000k mark its gone to a grinding noise and has a sort of supercharger sound to it

Yeah if everything else is standard on the car and you want to keep it that way then just keep the standard actuator. You would really only fit it if you were wanting more power and ppl usually do that in conjunction with exhaust and Intercooler system to let the motor breathe easier and a tune...

Cheers,
Corbin
