Just wondering if someone can help me out. I have an AU3 XR8 ute with the 85 litre tank that i bought in 2005 with 30000kms on it. Its now done 106000kms and in that time i've gone through 6 fuel pumps. I've used 3 genuine pumps and 3 aftermarket pumps. The best i've got out of one is 40000kms and the worst is this lastest one 1200kms. Power supply to the pump is good, is there anything else i should be checking or is there something that causes them to fail. Any advice is appreciated i'm sick of changing them.

How often do you let it run down to almost empty?
The pump actually relies on the fuel in the tank to keep it cool. As a general rule you should treat the quarter mark as empty and the red zone means pump damage.
Blocked fuel filter or kinked fuel line will put extra load on the pump, also causing it to heat up and fail prematurely.
Electrical issue is not very likely. Pump would just not turn on.
