Me too George. Solder is the only way to go.
Its easy installing an amp mate. Time will give you a clean hidden professional look. Dont buy an amp wire kit mate, its a waste of money. Go to Jaycar as they are cheaper and great quality, grab an amp in-line fuse ( about $15) and some 4 or 8 gauge wire. Best bet is normally to get a fair bit more than you think you will need wire wise as its cheap and sucks when your a bee's d**k short. Run a constant off the + battery feed to the in-line fuse and from the other side of the fuse to the constant of the amp. Then run the remote wire from the back of your deck to the accessory feed on the amp ( normally a blue wire). Earth the amp ( depending on setup it would be best to earth the same place as the deck to stop ground loop), connect your speakers and RCA's and Bob's you Aunty. When you mount the amp just make sure to give clearance as they can get hot and have been known to start fires.
Im not going to be on here much over the next few days as my Dongles had a hissy fit and net speeds even worse than dial up, but by the sounds of it your in good hands here mate with the boys.
