Hi all, after following the instructions in my ellery manual on how to check ignition timing ie. shorting
the correct terminals to put the engine into diagnostic mode. My engine revs climb to 2700 rpm instead of the 1500 rpm listed in my ellery manual. Is this the same for everybody else?

I believe so yes.
This is where you check your timing to be 30°BTDC with a timing light.

Or at least this is the case with the very first of the windsors in the e-series
