Before I get around to ringing Fraud to find out does anyone know if you can still buy the headrest mounts for a EL XR6. Both pass and driver sides are busted and the headrests wont sit in place properly...looks terrible.

Also anyone have a part number maybe for them.

mate i had the same issue with mine when i bought my el xr6 they were all shattered inside and stuff. my old man works for ford and they dont make em anymore and the newer models dont fit in. i just rang up my local wreckers (autosalvage a forum sponsor) and they ripped a set outa another el for us. $50 for both of them. they are not as darker grey as the original ones but you couldnt tell the difference. so yer if you can find em any where else maybe call autosalvage and get em posted.

Yep I rang local dealer and he confirmed Ford dont have them anymore, I really was hoping they would have them..bugger.. I have a set of front GLI seats but the mounts are a much lighter grey. I'm thinking if I can some how remove them with out stuffing them I could spray them with some viynal spray paint close to original color and glue them back in..

Seems to be a common problem for the EL XR6's as my mate is having the same issue.

If it's the plastic holes the posts fit into - remove the hog rings holding the upper seat cover, partially pull the cover upwards, unclip the mounts from the bottom of the upper frame, and they'll come out by pulling them upwards.

I have the same problem. Both are stuffed on both front seats on my EL XR8. I fitted Fairmont Ghia seats cause it does look ratty with the head rests flopping around.

The only reason I changed the seats was because of the busted headrest mounts.

Never knew this was a common thing. My EF XR6 and EF Gli and EL Fairmont Ghia never had this problem. Maybe its just EL XR6's and 8's.

NP. Turn the seat cover inside out as you pull it up. Do it slowly, as there are other attachments as well - you'll see them as you go along.
Use small cable ties instead of the hog rings to do things up again.
Hog rings are a c*nt of an idea.

Sorry to bring up an old thread guys. Does anyone know how to get this issue resolved?
Would a auto trimmer be able to sort it out?
