Hey all. So I am starting my very first build!

The car in question is a 1990 xf Ute. List of things
needed to he fixed are

1. Outer door latches obviously

2. Rear glass needs replacing (honestly that was my fault)

3. Rear brake light cover needs to be replaced (already done

And 4. Various steering issues.

So mainly I need some advice on steering firstly there's an excessive amount of free play in steering, any advice on how to fix that?
Secondly there's this weird noise at low speed when on full lock?

Get under the car with it up on blocks See were the slop is... Waggle the wheels and check the tie rod ends, ball joints and steering box. You will need to replace the sloppy loose items. If the steering box has lots of slop you can improve that somewhat by tightening the rack to pinion tensioner bolt on the head of the steering box a little.

Don't most steering pumps make a noise at full lock? My understanding is that at full lock the steering can't go any further but the pump doesn't know that, so the noise comes from the pump being overloaded. I try not to use full lock if I can avoid it.

Door latches are everywhere on Ebay. In putting them in, I find it a lot easier to attach the mechanism rod to the plastic clip before screwing the latch to the door as there isn't much room. Be careful not to strip the threads when you screw the latch to the door.

Replacing glass may be a good time to get windows tinted if you feel that way. I like mine tinted.

When looking for stuff online, search for E series parts and other models as the X series utes can deliver limited search results. Over time you will find out which parts are compatible.

Being your first build, have fun!
