Hi guys
I have an AU XR8 ute. Started my car this morning and the oil light came on and noticed there was no oil Pressure on the gauge. sounds like it may have a slight knock now. Any answers to my this would have happen? Oil pump? Pickup fell off? |

check the oil level,
then get a mechanical pressure gauge on the engine to check the au xr6's are shocking for a bad and incorrect oil pressure reading and they needed 1-2 extra earth leads from the -ve of the battery to the block behind the p/s pump, this fixed the incorrect gauge reading no idea if the xr8's are the same though

Ive blown two oil senders - that is, they start, read normal, then the oil leaks through and they go to 0.
Car is fine, but eventually Ive had good oil leaks from it. Always worth a check |

Any acceptable Oil pressure = Gauge in the middle, No pressure = 0 reading on the gauge. Nothing in between. |

You also can't throw a series 1 dash into a series 2 -3 either. |

did you get the oil pressure issue fixed. it sounds like my old au1 xr8 when at idle the oil pressure droped to nothing and it had a light bottom end knock but once u rev the engine it picked up. I replaced the main and big end bearings
