Hey guys,
Looking to freshen up the old el2 xr8.
I have done as much research as I can so far, but I have a few questions.

Long story short I have these mods so far;

-3" air intake pipe, with boxed k&n pod filter
-stock el gt (4-1) extractors
-2x 2.5" magna flow cats
-3" exhaust

Now,
I am looking for a mild setup my plans are:

-gt40p heads (where in melbourne is good to freshen up a 2nd hand heads?)
-what aftermarket cam can you suggest? (Automatic)
-what roller rockers can you suggest to go with the cam?
-valve springs aswell?

(where can I get this installed in south- eastern suburbs of melbourne and looking to get a tune aswell to suite)

Do I buy these parts online? If so where?
(I can get the gt40p heads from FTG auto salvage)

Sorry for all the questions but I am extremely keen to give the old el2 xr8 some extra kws/ oomph!!

Thank you :)

Sorry,
Forgot to add these are the gt40p heads I'm looking at getting.

http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/290874013551?nav=SEARCH

Or
Am I better off getting second hand gt40p heads and get them reconditioned??

Thanks

You're better off getting AFR 165 Renegade heads. No reconditioning or porting needed and much much better performance.
If you're retaining stock gearing use a Comp XR264HR-14 or a Crane HR-216/325-2S-12.

Thanks for the input XR9UTE.
I'm going down the slightly cheaper route as I don't have a lot of cash flow.
I am currently getting 'heavy duty sway bars', 'rotors' and auto service aswell,

So I'm looking to not spend to much at the moment.
-I want to get gt40p heads (will el2 xr8 extractors fit the gt40p heads)if not what should I get?
-what roller rockers should I get? (1.7)
-what cam should I get (looking to get a nice lumpy sound and a bit of oomph/kW)
-what springs?
-what else did I miss? I found a place to install and tune aswell, I just need to get the parts together.

Let me know guys I'm really keen
Thanks

If it's down to cash flow, I'd just wait..I have some brand new in box GT40 Y302 alloy heads & Crane 1.7 roller rockers you can have for $1750 the lot.

Sounds like a good price, are they alloy heads.

Could always find a complete AU 220 kW motor and put that in with some changing of sensors and balancer I believe..

Honestly, I was in your situation a few years ago, I went with the gt40p option, yes t was a good upgrade but I am wishing I waited and saved for some AFRs or Trickflows heads..

If they weren't alloy I wouldn't have said alloy.

Sorry to hijack the thread but what's the plug angle on the GT40 Y302 heads? Same as GT40P or an E7 head, or something in between? I am yet to find a windsor head library that lists plug angle for what's available on the market. It would help for those of us who have invested upwards of 1k for a set of custom headers only to find out that the spark plugs foul on the heads we would like to run, therefore forcing us to use something that may not be optimal.

Rest assured....i would never pay money for 90 degree plug heads when everything else out there isn't and is waaaay better.
so they're 45 degree.

Thanks for the feed back guys.
Any major mods have come to a stop at the moment,
A stupid p plater ran up my a** just off the freeway, and he has no insurance!!! :(
So I'm wearing most of the bloody costs.. Prick

I'm in the process of doing a few minor mods at the moment.
And long story short I am trying hard to save for a house,
I'm looking for a few more cost affective opinions in performance.

I was even thinking:
-gt40p heads
-extractors (what brand you guys recommend)
-standard cam
-yella terra rockers. (What ratio would suite a stock cam?)

I know this seems the cheap crap option but I want a little more go,
Let me know if you can help me out.
Max I am allowing to spend is $2000-$3000 fitted

Cheers :)

Feel for you mate, isn't there a legal route you can take.

I noticed quite a noticeable gain from AU 220kw tb, hi flo cats with a lengthend twin section to a single muffler. I than added under drive pullies and felt a little gain again, all on the stock motor. Hope that helps a little

For an EL2 that already has an explorer intake, I would go pacies, twin 2.25 exhaust and a moates quarterhorse chip to tune it. And underdrives.

My NL has all that, plus Explorer manifold, 65mm AU throttle body and AU MAF, custom tuned by me and makes 160 rwkw through a BTR with 3.9's and heavy 18's.

Getting the pieces together for a cam and head upgrade, 11R 190 heads, custom FTI cam, Trickflow R manifold, Comp Gold rockers and 60 pound Siemens deka's. Then upsize a lot of the other stuff.
