For the money you expect to pay for those GT40P heads you are better off saving a few hundred more and getting a much better head such as a trick flow twisted wedge. 40p's are only good value if you can score them for around 400-500 bucks.

Hey 'XR9utE'
You have changed my mind completely again, so I'm going alloy, I'm going to recondition the bottom end and get some (AFR 165 Renegade heads). Are these ok; http://m.ebay.com/itm/400746724836?nav=SEARCH WHAT: cam?? valve springs?? roller rockers?? Extractors? Would you suggest Or any other bits do I need to complete this conversion, Would love to get around 300hp. (Am I dreaming? As it is auto) Thanks

I prefer the AFR 1399 part number simply because it doesn't have the EGR ports or heat pump holes at the end of each head. The valvetrain components which come on those heads are fine you will not need to replace them. You will however need stud mount rockers, hardened pushrods & taller valve covers to clear the roller rockers.
For an easy 'bolt on' upgrade I would use the following: AFR 1399 heads Comp Cams 19049-16 rocker arms Comp Cams XE270HR-14 cam (35-351-8) Rollmaster CS3040 timing chain set Trend 6.300" pushrods Felpro 1250 intake gaskets Felpro 1415 exhaust gaskets Pacemaker PH4000 headers Ported Explorer intake 70mm Tickford TB If you are chasing a power figure & a bit more top end power I'd change a few components: Trickflow 11R 190cc heads milled to 50cc Lunati Voodoo camshaft 61011 Trickflow R-series intake 7.100" pushrods The 2nd option on cam, heads, and intake will require a high stall converter and 3.9 diff gears.

I'm going with the first opinion you sugested. In your opinion, after I get it tuned how many kW/ hp will this setup make? My stock engine just ticked over to 255,000kms, the bottom end is going to get reconditioned I can't thank you enough for point me in the right direction..

Also I for got to ask, will I need a different MAF To suit the 70mm tickford t/b? If so what size maf?
And how bout injectors do I need to change from #19 to #24?? Thanks sorry bout all the questions |

You'll need at least a 70mm MAF but an 80mm is more like it. Plus 24's.

AU 73mm MAF & 24lb injectors would be a definite, but you could find yourself close to the upper limits of these components as well... In which case it might be simpler to go straight to a Lightning MAF & 30lb injectors.
You'll also need to look at an upgraded fuel pump, the Walbro 255L or 400L units would be a good idea. As for a power figure it will depend on the dyno, but a figure in the 280-300rwhp is possible. If it was me and the bottom end is getting rebuilt with new pistons, I would get a set of these: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/t ... /overview/ And run the Trickflow 11R 190cc head: http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/t ... /overview/ Keep everything else as per the first parts list except pushrods (these heads need the longer ones) and you'll have a very punchy little 5.0L

Yeah sweet sounds very good, which push rods/ size would you suggest??
I'm suprised on the price difference between the AFR and Trickflow heads Just finalizing the list and calculating prices, so far I reakon it will cost a bit over $4000.00 (for parts) Can anyone suggest a rough price on how much it should cost for tune and install of this? I'm not very smart when it comes to that sort of stuff and last thing I want is to be taken advantage of and pay big $$$ for no reason. The feed back I've been recieving has been fantastic on the forums |

Can't really coment on the labour costs as I do all this sort of thing myself, but I'd guess around the $1500 mark? Drive in drive out, maybe more depending on the tuning hardware required.

Last question and I'll be on my way collecting parts, I'm looking to recondition my auto gear box, what high stall would you suggest for the set up listed??

2500+, ideally I'd run around a 3000 stall while keeping the lockup clutch. Getting your auto reconditioned and then perhaps adding one of the shiftkits.com shiftkits would tighten up the shifts nicely.
