A diagram of a ba inst cluster. You may have problems getting it to work because the ba inst cluster runs off the communications network.

thanks for that phantom...

i am in the process of re sanding and smoothing the icc, cup holder, dash spears and gear surround i'm going to see what a mat black finish looks like... i think it'll look alot cleaner and more factory...

Now for a few questions

AU Fairmont Heater Box...???

Whats different about it compared to a AU forte... is the whole unit different or is it a AU forte box with some motors and solenoids...?, id like to know as im wondering how much of the BA ICC Faceplate (high or low series) could work with the AU Fairmont Climate Controls...

Have been playing with the cluster with no real results... i am pretty much just slowly wrecking my AU cluster lol

the black looks really good, pity you couldn't get a high series au cluster and make a cluster surround that looks like it is supposed to go there.

i will i had the bally balls to do something like this.

i could do that but the BA cluster isnt as wide as the AU, i did have the BA surround sitting over the AU cluster but it cut off half of the fuel gauge...

Impressive this is really coming along nicely.
Whats the ford logo on the ICC is that just a sticker or a wallpaper type thing.

By the way if you need a ba airbag/ clockspring and switches let me know As I might just ditch this lot at this stage.

got a BA steering column... pretty much not going to work... none of it lol... everything is in different positions, on different angles so all iv got out of it at them moment is i have switched the AU indicator and wiper stalks for the BA ones and have wired up the headlights to the ba switch on the indicator... the stalks are about 5mm from hitting the steeringwheel so i hope fitting the ba steering wheel and airbag will improve that a bit

Pics

Nice conversion - well done

1 question - is the BA and AU firewalls the same?
i ask this as i'm looking at doing this to project car and if same i'm just going to change everything and run the whole BA loom and all in it

nearly a year late but ill answer the question anyway...
AU dash is closer to E series than it is B Series.

these 2 photos have been stolen from a boosted thread iv been watching (BA dash, Heaterbox and engine into a ED (with custom brackets made to mount the BA heaterbox (not sure if its single or duel zone)

I know this is bringing up an extremely old thread, but I was wondering how it all went?

I didn't go any further with the BA dash,
I ended up fitting pretty much a complete AU2 Fairmont ghia interior (dash, seats, carpet, complete wiring etc.) as the misses was using it as a daily for a few years, I wasn't happy with the driver's airbag not working.

The BA interior is possible but if I was to do it again I'd buy a BA wreck and replace the firewall and front floor plan aswell, big job but it's the only way to get the dash to fit properly.

More on the Au in the build thread
post1355759.html#p1355759

I still talk to the bloke that owns it now, hasn't done much to it which I think is a good thing
