Hi all, just chasing a bit of help regarding my 2004 ba xr8 ute. Recently bought this car and I am a bit confused on a couple of things. Firstly, there are 2 fog light switches. The top one turns the fog lights on and off, but the bottom one doesn't appear to do anything, even on the dash. Have pulled the switches out and found that they both have what looks like factory wiring attached. What could the second switch be for?

Secondly, I installed a AUX kit in the car. However when I went for the plugs under the fuse box, there was already something plugged in to one of the plugs. I unplugged it and nothing seemed to change?? Everything still works as it should. The plugs comes from the red white and green wires in the picture
which leads somewhere under the centre console.

Thanks buddy, but traction control was only released in the bf Falcons. It is also not the diff locking system button as XR variants were not fitted with that feature... Still lost as to what is does, particularly because there are wires behind it.

On BA and BF that should be a foglight switch and TC button. XR8 and XR6T have TC in sedans standard. Utes possibly dont have TC but someone has replaced the switch if thats the case and its doing nothing. The factory wiring you have is not programmed to do anything. If you have TC you will see an orange symbol with a skidding tyre come up on the cluster when you press that switch.
As for the cable it may be the Aux cable for the head unit. If you press AM twice and you see Aux on the screen thats your answer.

Okay cool that answers the switch. As for the cable. I did install the aux kit, but when I did the other set of cables were already plugged in and don't lead to the icc area? Yea there is no orange light on the dash for the tc. Cheers buddy

You need to hold the TC switch to turn it off if it is programmed in... My XR6T has that plug but the traction control switch in it is in the high series ICC so it is a blank there, still has the plug but... You hold it down for a few seconds to get the warning jewel to illuminate to say it's turned off...

That plug could have previously been used for anything from a mobile phone cradle to another aux cable tucked into the dash... You have to find out what is on the other end of it by pulling stuff to bits...

Cheers,
Tim
