Hi Guys and Girls,

its been a long time since ive been around, anyway, im a proud new owner of a 2009 FPV FG GT, but i have two issues that i hope you can shed some light on for me..

1 - during the drive the car is surging
2 - when i brake the car comes to a stop then does a little jerk and sometimes adds a second jerk onto the end just to be that extra annoying

ive done a google search but not coming up with much, anyone have ideas on whats going on here?

Thanks :)

check the harmonic balancer out. It could be shagged and slipped. Seen it happen to a mates, similar diagnosis.

Xine,

I was just wondering if you'd had any progress with your surging issue? I've been doing some reading about transmission issues because of failing heat exchangers causing problems like that... I also have a mate whose car is doing similar things.

Id like to know if you have had any success with the jerking issue.

Xine, peanutau, are you symptoms like this: Your cruising alone at 100k and you watch the tacho "flare" up and down by about 150rpm every second?

Also a vibration thru the car?

Are yours both ZF 6 speed?

the repairs were done under warranty and they did give me a brief run down on what the issue was with the transmission but sorry ive already forgotten.

the surging would happen at any speed, id catch the rev counter bouncing back and forth. i didnt experience any vibration as such, just the jerking when i came to a complete stop.

Not sure if you are aware, or how much research you have done on the subject, but if I were you, I would make sure that they added an external transmission cooler this time around. It only costs a few hundred and will save you thousands upon thousands of dollars in transmission rebuild costs if it happens to you again out of warranty!
