g'day guys just wondering if any one has retro fitted an au dash in to a x series?
I've got a complete au manual v8 that im going to take wiring harness etc out of and would like to change the whole dash over just to make the ute a bit different. if anyone got any advice tips that would be great! cheers jamie |

EB Dash is hard. EF is easier (single Airbag) AU is probably easier again. The big issue is the way that you decide to do the demister vents - its different from X to E Series (and AU) There is also a BA Dash there in one project. Or - Take the wiring, and plant it into an XH dash assembly. its a little custom, but its the latest you get with "easy to bolt in". You should be able to make either the AU Cluster work, or the EF/EL one. I have NC V8 Wiring (and the Engine, and the Auto) on a XH Dash, with the NC Cluster using an XG Bracket. Will need the au bcm for the cluster to work and heater unit for the vents to line up

BUMP!!! i am looking at fitting an AU dash in my XG ute. i would like to know if this has been done yet, the work required and maybe some photo's of it before i purchase the AU dash. can anyone help me out?

I know of a E series into Xy is the AU dash the same width? if it is longer you will have issues shorter might be ok... as you could do a spacer ont he left and right sides maybe? its a BIG job regardless i would be prepared to have the car off the rd for quite some time what about getting an AU ute donor car and swapping everything over ie all the wiring and engine etc might need to adapt the plugs for lights etc? anything is doable with time and or money

yea i was hoping i could do the conversion without changing engine or anything under the bonnet for that matter. was hoping there would be a few wiring changes and few little snips here and there just to make dash cluster work and even the air control's.
 might be somthing to do later when i do my new engine for her as that will be an AU donk going in i think.
