Hi, I've been around a bit in the 6cyl forum after answers for a few problems giving me grief but I just realised I havent introduced myself or the van at all! I'm a fitter by trade (almost..) having a crack at a car for fun

Just a few photos here from the last year I've had it, things are slow atm while I'm paying off a reco auto I had fitted a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway I have a lot of plans to slowly put together once the gremlins have all been booted out. I picked up an XG ticky motor a while back, currently pictured in boxes, that I'll be rebuilding all in the next year or so, after I finish with the suspension basically. No point putting a new motor in an old rattler.

Currently though it has a standard and world weary 6 with 360000 kms on the clock. Just fixed the odo and decided to keep the figure. The old girl's earned it right? No intake mods at all yet due to priorities, but I picked up a 2.5 full system and pacemakers. Not sure what model number though. Interior wise, I have xr6 seats in there now and I'm slowly worked through every panel and piece of flashing with black enamel and black vinyl dye.

Cheers, Andrew

Appreciate it mate, just gotta build the rest of the motor now haha!

The dash cluster confirmed a couple of months ago that it is an old police van like I thought originally. Cop shocks 8-)

Man nice pano, not many around anymore - definitely lots of potential there, I'm holding on to my XG ute, love the x-series utes and panel vans, love the manifold too -are you going clear coat to stop the crap coming back on it?
Looking forward to seeing more, cheers, Johnny.

That looks smicco , how I want mine to look , she's rough but it does run well ( hope to have " the problem" sorted soon ) I have a bench seat ,it's an ex Brunswick police paddy wagon , straight off Matlock ? just wondering how do you fix the odometer please ? Would like to make it a project but probably beyond me . Did have to change the drivers door to an XF because the xg has thinner steel and crap handles also , the door isn't quite flush , saw a nice conversion with eb handles on a forum , these forums are awesome . Got no chrome or the fittings for the windscreen , silasticed in and then covered that with duct tape as it still leaked . Any idea where to source the clips , got some chrome from an XF ute hoping it will fit , like to paint it black to match . Thanks in advance

Theres a couple of special tools but mostly its really easy actually. Taking the dash apart is the biggest step, it only took me a couple of hours going out and back in. Ill try to find the guide link some time, I should have it.

Parts cost about $10 on ebay. If i remember right some small torx bits may be necessary.

Hi Andrew
How has the black vinyl dye held up ? Did you use it on any of the plastic trim? ? Cheers A
