I bought a v8 NL fairlane, the previous owner has removed all of the mufflers.i found a 6 cyl cat back standard exaust and was wondering if there is any difference between the 6 and the 8 systems. beside the obvious the 8 have a Y section and the 6s have an extra muffler. can i cut the 6 system and weld up to the 8 system or will it have pressure problems? Help
TUFF AUTO PARTS ON EBAY - 6 CYL CAT BACK FOR NL IS $180- V8 CAT BACK FOR NL V8 IS $405 (Lil' bit of a weld and cut here an there????

You prolly don't need the full cat back. By the factory y pipe should work saving you some

The mufflers are different as well from i6 to v8

With Redback, I believe one is straight through, and the other is Turbo Style.

The rear resonator/muffler is common though

Rather than doing this, you would be able to DIY a 3.0 inch system using the factory Y, and a good Straight through muffler, two (or 3) mandrel 180's, and some pipe. Total cost would be around the $200 also plus some time. If your up for welding this would work.

I purchased the V8 system from Tuff Auto but got a much better price than your quoting. After comparing the Redback Y (included in catback) with the factory one, I dont believe there is a difference.

All good either way
