Hi all.

I bought a spare key remote, but following the instructions exactly, absolutely NOTHING happens.

I also tried to turn off my seat-belt warning dinger - same thing: absolutely nothing happens, when following the factory instructions (i.e. it says "turn on the ignition, wait for the seat belt warning light to go out". On my car, the seat belt warning light does NOT go out.

What might be going on here?

I can't help with the Key remote, i have only done it once myself and that was a few years ago now.

Seat belt warning,
turn the ignition on, plug the seat belt in, unplug the seat belt, plug it in, unplug it and do that again should have that warning turned off.

Been doing EXACTLY that. The car isn't going into "learning" mode. Hit the rear demist button three times and nothing happens. Weird.

Faulty computer?

I'm flummoxed.

Thanks for that - worked perfectly.

Coding the remotes is still a no-go though; following the instructions, the system doesn't go into "learning" mode.

does central locking work ok and from internal switch
EXACTLY 3 pushes(on-off-on) -ACCESSORY (11) position
does rear demist light come on in dash when ignition is on
not a ute is it
remove and refit bem fuse and retry
remove tissue holder at bottom of ICC and check BEM connections are pushed in correctly

indicates faulty BEM -which will require Ford scan tool or similar to program 2 keys and carry out parameter reset before it will start
can plug replacement BEM in and check if your fault is fixed before programming however

Thanks for the help.

Yes - central lock internal switch works.

Yes - rear demist light icon comes on when ignition is on.

It's a sedan (not ute).

I've been doing the exactly three pushes of the demist button with the key on "ACC".

Will check out your BEM check suggestions in the AM - it's dark and very rainy over here in NZ right now.

Thanks again.

The timing has to be pretty spot on to get the remote learning mode... I can never remember whether it fast, moderate or slow presses until I need to do it, and then I forget it...

You are doing it with the doors all closed too yes?

Cheers,
Tim

GOT IT TO WORK!

Thanks Tim. I tried over and over this AM using different speeds of entering the three taps and eventually - it clicked.

So all good.

Sequence seemed to be key in, turn to ACC, and do the three taps IMMEDIATELY the key is switched to ACC. Any kind of time delay and nothing would happen.

THANKS EVERYBODY FOR YOUR HELP!
