I posted previously in regards to a starting issue in my ef Fairmont v8 well it's progressed to other issues and I'm at a loss and really frustrated,I'm hoping someone can help me pin point it
It started with cold start issue,I.e first start of the day car will fire and then die instantly then start second go but with a fluctuating idle but once warm it idled nicely
I switched the isc with another used one and it was no better, unplug the isc and idle picks up a bit but still rough
I've adjusted the idle and voltage at the tps but what I've got now is an idle that's like I have a big cam all the time
Also if I blip the throttle the revs hang at 1100 or thereabouts for a few seconds before dropping to 600.i can't get it to sit at a base idle
It also blows the odd puff of black smoke when the throttle is hit and often smells rather fumey on start up
When the car is driving it goes fantastically with plenty of power and decent economy
So far I've had new plugs, base idle and base timing all checked and all good
A koer test bought the revs up nicely and the only code was passenger thermo fan
The computer is stv 516 and has remanafatured stickers on it also maf was replaced in 2011
It's really nice car and I want to sort it out
Any tips plz guys I'm desperate

If the maf housing is is cracked, it's probably not working properly. Do a code scan on the car, see what error codes pop up.

Cheers

It sounds MAF and possibly hego related to me.

Unplug the maf entirely, I doubt you will see any change. Are you getting a decent spark as well? could the coil have s**t itself?

I'd suggest that if the MAF has been glued that they have stuffed it internally as well. Is it just bog stock otherwise? Pull the ISC off and give it a good clean as well make sure that it functioning correctly, if its slow to react that could also be a contributing factor to the hanging revs. I may have a spare ISC for E series floating rround but I'd have to look after you check yours.
