The T5 bushes are longer, about twice as long and are bronze. You can use 2 bushes together. Same seal can be used too, I use the BA seal.....has 4 lips.....even in a C4/5/10.

Yeah, thanks for that info - I thought they might be bronze, as they looked to be same material as transmission thrust washers, etc.
The few T5's I've done, IIRC I didn't see a huge amount of wear in those bushes, most likely because of the material, and the oil circulating grooves in the bush surface ??

What is the bolt type called that holds the rear extension housing onto the actual transmission?
What i am trying to ask is what type of bolt head is it? It's not your standard bolt where you can use a spanner & it looks like an inverted Torx kind of a bolt. If it is a male torx bolt then does anyone know what size it is? thx SL |

If it is a male torx bolt then does anyone know what size it is? thx SL It's called a 12 point headed bolt.....you need to use a 12 point socket......can't remember the size now...12mm ????....7/16"....????.....something like that.

i got quoted $300 for the following...
1) Trans service (includes oil, filter & gasket) 2) Rear Ext Housing seal 3) Rear Ext Housing Bush I done #1 & #2 @ home for $80 in parts & about 2 - 3 hours work. Cars now running smooth & not leaking any trans fluid  thx SL |

hey guys, resurrecting this post a bit, I'm just replacing my rear seal, bought the new one which looks flush at the outer ( back ) face but looking at the one that's currently on the car it looks like the rubber part extends out about 10 mm in a thin tube like extension from the actual seal if you follow me... does this matter? are there two different types??
