I think that must be the key, although the replacement mirror I first tried looked the same with the same plug I can only assume it was not a memory mirror, the second one certainly was & worked flawlessly as soon as it was plugged in. I assume the controller inside the mirror is different between memory & non memory. I believe the controller failed in my original. Don't know how/why it failed when it's sealed in the mirror & was only 7years old when it failed!

The standard mirrors dont have a controller there "analog" all 3 wires to the mirror carry power to move the mirrors.

The Memory mirrors are digital with the controller. 2 of the wires carry power +12 and ground, the 3rd wire carries the data signal to the controller that moves the mirrors. :)

Thats the way i understand the 2 work.

Sounds like your old original mirror could do with a autopsy to check out the guts. :D
