Slowly fixing up a 95 EF Fairmont I recently picked up to put back on the road, yesterday I connected a battery for the first time to get it running. It had a smart lock issue as some kids tried to steal it anyway I sorted that and it runs well. The issue is when you hook up the battery the head lights come on (parkers, lows, highs) and only headlights turn the head light switch on and the rear parkers come on as they should. I was thinking a relay or something may be stuck on? I've done abit of googling but haven't come across a issue like this.

Thanks in advance.

Swap the relay with another identical relay to test it. From memory in the EF, the headlamp relay is in the fuse box below the steering wheel next to driver door, and also if I remember correctly, the rear demister relay (which is in the same panel) was identical to the headlamp relay...

Also check there is a thermo switch under / near the radiator bottle. When these lights got too hot, they turned off via a thing which looks like a relay or some such (metal box with spade connectors coming out bottom... About four cm long from memory...)
