 Post subject: Possible Failed Valve Stem Seals NC Fairlane

My NCII Fairlane was running fine all good no smoke, changed the oil and all of a sudden it blows smoke on start up and after a while the smoke goes away.

I have it booked in at local mechanic to see what the go is.

I am assuming its the valve stem seals. It's not loosing water or oil, no bubbles in rad, no milky oil, no oil leaks engine bay (while dirty) looks fine.

What would be a ball park figure to have the issue fixed.... I am thinking it would have to be around the $1100 mark as they would have to remove the head etc

is the oil thinner than previously used?

No idea i put 20w 50 in it, given it was 2 years since last oil change

Yeah thats what I meant lol

I got given the car with 135 thou ish kms and its currently at like 145 or 147 ish thou, these are original kms for the car.
