Hey guys

Just bought a FG coon and i think i'm having issues with the ZF box.

From what i can see there transmission cooler that by passes the radiator.

Anyway, the RPM of the car goes up and down when i'm either cruising or going up a hill. It's more noticeable when i'm going up a hill. It feels like i'm pumping the accelerator as i'm going up the hill.
When i gas it going up the hill, the box will kick back and accelerate and when it tapers off ( i like to keep my license) i can feel the surge/fluctuation.

When i do this when the transmission or transmission is coldish... the car goes up the hill normal. No surging or RPM fluctuating, it labours a bit... but i wasn't going to make it go down a gear... but once the oil heats up and i have people in the car.... it does it.

Now.. will a service fix this? (as in change the oil, flush and pan and filter replacement?)

or is it FUBAR??

which is the best oil? (i drive normal with the occasional squirt here and there)

what's this thing about transmission ECU reprogramming? does it cost much?

also can someone tell me what's the difference with the pans? (metal/plastic??) I've just read so much stuff over the past couple of days... i'm getting confused and i can't find what i've read.

any info is greatly appreciated

Hey Guys

i finally got my transmission serviced. There was already a metal pan, so servicing was cheaper.

They did say they had to use a lot more oil to flush out the entire system till it was clean.

Now the surging is gone.
