I read somewhere that Mal wood uses Transmax z in all there T5 gearbox's,alternative would be 70/80 light gear oil..with an additive like lubrizol,I think there's also some synthetic gear oils which may be something to look into aswell

Hey Mad2, is the T5 to go with the barra in the AU?,I'm considering using a T56 have the box and just got the flywheel but trying to work out a hydraulic clutch in a X-series gives me a bit of a headache  . What clutch are you going with?

for the moment just to the AU motor with the clutch/pressure plate it came with [bought T5 and everything needed to convert to manual ... except tailshaft & box wiring lol ... cheap]. re barra .. still need to workout what wiring i need & etc etc etc . . . . . ... . if barra goes into the AU . . . will be using cable clutch [have a few cables coming] .... i think. but the AU's rego runs out in just under a year & won't be renewed.

with the barra will be either fitting the EB T5 just to get it up & running ..... or buy the correct setups i've seen on upay T5 [or is it T56? ] .... which come with all items needed [i believe? .. well except the sedan tailshaft :x ], with the clutch being a standard piece?. why not make up a bracket for the later hydraulic pedal [pedal & hydraulics only] & mount that to the X-series brackets .... maybe use a auto pedal box & mod that?. will be modding the BA/BF setup to fit in the EB wagooon .... which is waiting for a wash & wiring strip

currently hunting around for a very cheap BA/BF tailshaft

Yea T56 is the tremec BA/BF 6-speed,will see how it goes when I start prepping for paint as the engine and box are coming out to paint engine bay (may weld unused holes and smooth aswell ) have finally got some decent XR6 headlights too,if I'm lucky I may be able to get hold of BA-BF peddle box to adapt the clutch with -we shall seeee

p.s Im going Xtreme clutch for the T5 -but if I go T56 its a bloody expensive clutch for the T56

Edit Tremec T56 is the 6-speed-sorry for for the miss info

soo .... for a few months I have a BF LPG wagooon to play around with ... runs like shiiit & lost reverse somewhere :?:  just started removing the engine cover so I could hava looksy & .. found the pcv valve had lost it's base    replaced that & it now "idles" a bit betterer .. which is good. have yet to change coils/plugs to see if that changes anything. eventually will have to put it up on stands so I can checkout the wiring to the box & the fluid level. ohh found it's a real pain in the rear end to remove rear door trims when the door is locked [ie outside door handle not working & child lock on] :| replaced door lock & all fixed. if I can get it to run well .. hopefully might have time to pull AU apart & fit another AU motor/box

Cheers

$150 pick a par special might get ya reverse back, solved the brothers milkshake box that way, wait that cost me 5 times more than that after purchase of new socket set and a heap of oil to put in the box, plus the trans jack attachment to fit the jack that was pretty much useless laying in the driveway trying to use it

Did you find the base or is that long gone into the sump

i remember way back when i was a little tacker, dad had a old XF falcon one of the rear handles were broken, i put the child lock on that door OOPS dad wasn't impressed.

on that note im surprised noone ever came up with some billet handles to solve the handle breaking problem once and for all

the outer handle wasn't broken ... the rod from it had been removed due to the door lock not locking. changed the actual lock for a spare & refitted the wayward rod .. all locks again

will change the coils soon as coz when it gets warm/hot it runs crappy & drops rev's real quick. took it for a quick run to see if anything had changed .... cold ran a lot betterer .. but pull up at an intersection to hang a "U"e .... and in front of the highway patrol car . . . it stalls
