im in the middle of putting a BA turbo engine and gearbox in my series 1 AU ande i have found the ba gearbox has no allowance for the speedogear because the use wheel speed sensors.
I have BA brakes on the front so there is the possiblity for using wheel speed sensors, my question is; Will the wheel speed sensors send the same signal the the factor gauge as the gear box speed sensor would?
please if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hey there, I don't know what made you think that the speedo sensor is different but they are not. The BA uses the same speedo sensor that the AU does, in the gearbox. Just use your original speedo driven gear from the AU.

No they don't. Except for BA utes without ABS (a rare find).

The BA ABS system gets the speed from the ABS sensors, and sends that the the ECU. No your AU won't do this.

The solution, is to swap the extension housing from an AU box onto the BA box, or drill/tap the hole in the BA extension housing to fit the AU gear+sender (you may need the worm gear on the output shaft too).

As I said you might need to add the worm gear that's on the output shaft.

hey mate, my manual box came from a ute, and has provisions for speedo readings from the box.
when i have some free time i'll get a photo for you..

Considering you're turboing it, this may not be much good to you, as all turbo utes would have had ABS, so only the no turbo T5s will have the option.. I'm not 100%sure if all the T5s in BAs are the same, or just the manual utes.

possibly easier to replace housing with yours [as long as same box]. and check that there is a drive cog on output shaft.

Easiest way is to use extension housing and speedo gears from your AU on the BA box,I did this with my XG and the BA output shaft has the hole already for the gear to go on.

P.s I assumed that you were talking about the 4-speed???
