Driving in my car the icon light that looks like a motor comes on and I lose power. I get home and become stationary and it starts to splatter. I turn it off for a minute. Turn on, no icon light and put foot on accelerated and there is power. Temp in just over 'C'.

Could be the accelerator pedal unit, they were prone to problems.
