I was reading an old post, link above. Would it be possible that a cam angle sensor on its way out, is causing the ECU not to send proper signal/voltage to the coil pack. I have now received the cam angle sensor and will be fitting it on the weekend with new intake manifold gasket.

Any advice is welcome. Cheers!

The main function for the cam sensor is to know when no1 is on the compression stroke for injection, eg 135 and 264 cylinders, also if one of the coils is not firing it will switch the two injectors for that coil off. The information to turn the drivers on in the ecu come's from the crank sensor, the coil pack is fed battery voltage on a common wire and each coil primary winding will have battery voltage flowing through it back to the ecu and in turn will be turned on and off. Each time a coil turns off it will fire both plugs, one with negative polarity, and one with positive polarity. How and where did you measure for battery voltage, do this simple test if you say there is no spark on one and three, swap no 1 to no 6 and no 4 to no 3 at the coil and start it up now you should not have no 6 and no 4 not working.

Thanks very informative. I just did car body for ground and coil pack to check for voltage. I'll try the test you suggested and if it is as you predicted what would that suggest?

Grab a meter of insulated copper wire peel back the rubber and wrap it around the post of no1 coil tower hold the other end get some one to start the engine and see if sparks to the cyl head. If there is no spark shut the engine off. On the old coil get an ohm meter and measure between the coil towers of 1.6 2.5 3.4 they should read between 8 and 9 thousand ohms, do the same on the new coil and check the resistance of 1 and 3 lead. I cant imagine a new coil being faulty.

I couldn't imagine a brand new coil pack being faulty as well but worth checking anyway.

Oh really! I just assumed that considering it's brand new it isn't faulty. What are the odds though and couldn't it be anything else? Still scratching my head with this one.
