What are you guys using for increased airflow through the engine, as in the rocker cover breather? I fitted a brass hose fitting to the hole where the PCV was and have run that and the rear vac into a catch can. The catch can is too small so I will make a nice big one soon...
Anyone doing this or similar? Or seen stuf like it? |

slightly worried about this myself as the motor i have fitted has a hose going from the rocker cover back to the intake im just wondering how this will work with boost???

the hose that goes from your rocker cover to your intake is fine aslong as it doesnt see a boost signal as this will pressurise your crankcase and blow out you seals
 chefs catch can is there to stop any oil vapours getting into the intake which happens alot on forced induction cars, but6 you dont need a big one because if it is hooked up right it should vent to atmosphere [/quote]

I'm running the standard metal PCV valve with a one way filter inline running back to the manifold where it originally is. The back vent I have going to a catch can, then back to the intake side of the turbo.
I highly recommend if you are running a PCV valve to go and get a metal one. My original plastic one blew out and broke my time chain, timing chain cover, and damaged both the crank gear, and the dizzy gear. big money for a $7 pcv valve... |

I have the a filter inline with my PCV hose, and the rear breather just vents to under the car (naughty...I know...lol)

I'm thinking for the large amount of air inside the motor will push into the can (which is only maybe 800ml in volume) and cause a restriction, thus not letting the motor vent enough air. Alot of the "serious" turbo cars Ive seen have larger square(ish) catch cans ( oil/air sparators ). They look around 3lt in volume |

I run a catch can in the PCV hose with an added one way valve to stop the catch can becoming presurized. I also run 2 breather hoses from each rocker cover to a catch can which vents back into the intake pipe (for emission reasons).

as my car no longer meets epa specs i have two chrome beathers fitted to the rocker cover. i welded on two 30mm diameter tube and mounted them. one is where pcv was and other is about 9inches from the back of the cover

So no oil air separator now, just the filters?

won't need oil air sep if you vent to atmo, all the oil air sep does is stop the venting area getting oiled up, Really no point having one unless you plumb back to air intake. If you put a verticle tube before the filter it helps to stop any oil spitting up.
