hey guys

what im askin has prolly been asked many times b4 but i cant seem to find it anywhere.

all i wanna kno is what people have paid all up (roughly) for there turbo/supercharged setups and the power they r getting. Thats everything done to have the car running properly and reliable (ntercooler, computer, injectors, fuel sys, turbo/exhaust, tuning, piping). now i guess wot i have asked here is just for a basic setup, thats all i need for now.

thanks guys

5 to 10 grand, depends on what gear you buy and who does the labour...

Also depends on what you have. Is it a 6 or 8?

If you are going for a TT setup, obviously it will cost more.

To get a Vortech kit put on mine (fully installed as well) it was about 7-8k (not sure coz it was on there when I bought the car), but I don't have a cooler yet. That will be worth abother couple of k installed.

Results, it jacked the power up from ~180kw @ flywheel to amost 300rwhp, and Im still loving it.

I'd say if your asking the question then your not doing the labour yourself so cost will be
$10,00 - $15,000.

$10K as others have stated...things just add up !

$1500 - $2K for a decent turbo (T04 - GT35/40)
$1000 for a manifold to suit I6 (Tuned length maybe more)
$300 for a dump pipe
$1000 for an intercooler + plumbing

TSA have a bolt on non intercooled system for $5500 (not installed AFAIK)...it's good bang for buck as it's all new with a tuned length manifold.

But once you have the hardware - you may need to change existing components to suit the turbo - ie injectors - stock I6 ones are 19lb, you'll want 24lb ($250) or greater...ideally 42lb ($500) would be nice to avoid having to use a rising rate fuel regulator ($300 if you do go down that path)...then you'll need a bigger fuel delivery system - intank 255l/h walbro ($180) would be good choice there...then you may need to lower compression which means cam (~$500 for a billet / $150 for a regrind - depends how custom *shrugs*), valve springs ($200), bottom end ($1000 with lower compression pistons and rings to suit, strengthened rods etc) to suit. Then you'll need an ECU to handle the boost - Wolf3d V4 ($1400) / Haltech E6K / E11v2 ($2200)

All this extra stuff adds up !

Then once you have it all in and running good...don't get pulled up by the cops lol !

Give chef's thread a read - Chris documented that pretty well - just be weary, getting the hardware is one thing...having it tuned is another

Both eat HUGE holes in your pockets

That's pretty crazy mate. Just goes to show how much money you save doing it all yourself, particularly if you know how to swing a welder...

I agree with most of what you said (you did forget $500 plus for a wastegate). Intercooler and piping can be had for half that (but then again it gets down to how much you do yourself). 42lb Ford Motorsport injectors can be had for $350 including shipping from ebay (thats aussie dollars). If you shop around there is money to be saved but the biggest saving will come from DIY.

Agreed - however not everyone goes externally gated from the start (sure it's nice to spend the big coin and make big power straight away!) - but the reality is, most people start somewhere and upgrade later - GT35/40 is a great starting point and very affordable since turbos dropped in price over the past 12-18 months...spending what I spent on my new hybrid T03/T04 could have bought me a GT35/40 with $100 change today.

The new hybrid coolers seem to be a bit of a hit - grgeat bang for buck and totally agree with seton05 - if you DIY, you save a heap - labour and expertise is the most expensive part when outsourced.

The JMM kit - which they are saying will give 250rwkw - is between 11-12k.

i agree with that. I've done quotes for close to $15 000 for falcons.

the only limmiting factor in the setup was the strength of the bottom end.
