Is there a simple way to remove the power steering box on an XF with the pitman arm still attached? The gregorys says that the pitman arm should come off first but I don't have the correct tools to remove the pitman arm.

take the pitman arm out with the box, undo the 19mm at the drag link that holds the pitman arm, then undo the 3 x 19mm in the guard and it should slide out

If its a V8 from memory the brake booster or starter motor has to be removed to get out the steering box.

leave the pitman on, unbolt it and pull it out from underneath... easy!!!

If its a V8, undo the drivers side engine mount, and lift the motor, SLIGHTLY. We did it this way on my bro's XB, and it was a simple job.

Why are people still asking me if its a 6 or an 8? XF only ever left the factory as a 6 and If I would have had a V8 conversion done to it then the everyone on here would know abut it loud and clear.
He was the second person that asked if its an 8 so you should rip into him for whoring you imboscile. (I'll see you in flaming "insert...") The reason I didn't reply was cause I was waiting for a more indepth answer from someone who knows their s**t but that doesn't happen these days in internet forums. We had a resident mechanic come on here very often and he always had the right answers (where are you EF SVO) but posts like yours and your mates have turned him off internet forums completely. |

And as for the mining. Most threads have a shelf life of about a month max. That's if they are really interesting and people post regularly in them, otherwise they are dead within 2 weeks. This thread is almost 2 months old. Maybe the kid is just digging it up so he can post in the forsale section.
