Hi guys,

I've got an ef fairmont ghia, and as soon as i got which was 8 months ago i got the transmission serviced. A month or so ago i noticed my car slamming into gear and now since i've been working full time i have noticed that my car rides the gear from 2 - 3 and then kicks in. I went to the mechanics and they said it could be the gearbox solonoid.

What do u think?

have u also checked to see you havent developed any transmission oil leaks? low oil level perhaps?

i had a similar problem where the oil cooler line running from the trannie to the radiator had a leak fixed the leak

no more tranny probs

may be the solution for u

worth a look

I had the exact same problems, turned out to be the bands. For $300 more then the price of getting the band replaced i had it converted to manual.

The 4 speed auto on all models has a nasty habit of screwing the S5 soleniod (inside trans) when this is playing up you will experiance a sharp change between 1st and 2nd. Take it to a auto trans specialist should cost no more than $300 to fix.

I have had to do it on both my EL and the EA I had previously.
