Naa i found out its just old coolant, it was pretty sticky when i touched it so i thought i may have been some sort of selant or glue. I will buy the gaskets thou but unless it actually happens to stuff up i wont worry about changing the gaskets over.

Im not allowed to do work on my car ne way :(

My main concern is the oil loss issue. Actually driving it a little bit and i must say there actully is no real power loss, but there is something else troubling me, would a leaking rear main effect the performance of the transmission?

(sorry if thats a stupid question.)

But the gearbox feels a little sloppy. :?

Mabe im just worrying too much...................or not enough

It wont affect your box at all, if ats an auto, a manual? maybe, the cause being getting oil on the friction plate, but i have never seen it happen, not quickly anyway, if clutch starts to slip, it is affecting it.

Dont worry XRfan, you are looking too close.
In your posts, you've made no mention that there's a serious power loss, or loss of drivability/etc.
Its good that you are prudent with the maintence of your car, there's no need to stress about that !!!

Yeah cheers dude, naa theres no real power loss, if there was it would only be because of the sluggish transmission when its cold. But yeah im just concerned about how much the car has leaked since then, i know i did a fair bit of KMS last week and most of it was all country driving so i prolly was pushing it a little bit during then. :?

Oh well, cheers for the replys :P

Hey guys went and got the ramps the other day(Thurs) and i can confirm that the leaks were from the Rear main!! So it is getting worse.

I cleaned up all the mess and then put a bit of sealer accross the area where its leaking. Car will be booked in to get fixed on Wed hopefully.

And i wont have to pay for it either :D
