HI all,
I know this may sound weird, and it most probably is, so just bear with me: Anyone who has previously owned an EA - ED Falcon or NA - NC Fairlane may have noticed a rubber mould that sat under the front of the parcel shelf carpet. If you fold down your back seat, you will notice a rubber mould/strip running horizontally along the lower edge of the parcel shelf carpet. Now for the weird bit: Anyone who owns an EF - EL Falcon or NF - NL Fairlane will notice there is no rubber strip in that place? Is that weird? I have seen three cars of the EF - EL era that have no strip. I just put in a strip from an EA on my NL as it looks complete, not tacky.

Err, got any pics?
I have no rubber strips in the loaction you speak of on either my nf or nl.. Im guessing its to help get a seal, altho ef/el range close up well as is fro what ive noticed.. Pics please. lol

i just bought one from my local wrecker and fit it onto my NL Fairlane. It looks neater than just having nothing.

I dont get it; its only visable when the seats are down rite; so in that case i think its look better without it there.
The carpet is rolled up inter the parcel shelf nicely, it doesnt look tacky/unfinished to me? Am I on the wrong track here?

I think you will find that the rubber strip is NOT there due to the air pressure movements. There is like a 'air release' thing in the boot that will releasethe pressure in the cabin when you close the door/s
does it make sense?

does it make sense? Believe it or not; yes. Same deal with the extra vents in the parcel shelf in EL models.

That rubber strip that your talking about is to hold down the leading edge of the carpet onto the parcel shelf.
According to my manual, EF/EL sedans dont get it, the carpet is glued down and the NF/NL's do get it. Why they do it like that, no idea. If its missing, maybe your parcel shelf carpet has been removed at sometime. It's there on both my parents NL's. |
