Hi all, I have an EB I 3.9L MPFI and was just wondering if apart from a "performance chip" (ChipTorque) is there anyway you can tweak the ECU to get some extra horses under the bonnet. If this can be done whom and where in NSW (Sydney) can it be done.  :D

sorry to be the d***head that posts this, but to get more horsies under the bonnet you would need more than just STOCK ecu mods lol.

try getting a 4Litre engine, with a tickford head, a good cam, an EBII pre smart lock ECU, extractors and exhaust... and then look at chipping/modifying your ecu... all of the above can be done for cheaper than you think. A whole EL XR6 engine just went on ebay for like $1000, its all a straight bolt in.. and Ive got EBII pre smartlock ECU AUTO lying around.

That'll give you some horsies under the bonnet.

But if you want a non d***head reply, there have been many attempts at "hacking" these ecu's and the only way to access them is through the J9(or J3?) connector down the bottom of the ECU. There have been some rumours of ford been able to reprogram different maps onto these ECU's but who knows... easier to either do something else, get a chip, or get a whole new/second hand aftermarket ECU.
Or even maybe try and build a megasquirt.

Cheers
